A Few of My Favorite Things: Baby Edition
Now that the holidays are here it seems like the social calendar is filling up quickly. One new style party that has risen in popularity recently is the “favorite things” party. This is where everyone brings 4 of their favorite things to a party to exchange with friends. Such a fun and genius idea so I thought I would take that idea and apply it to more than just a party. I decided I would gush about 4 of my favorite baby things! While they may be in totally random order these 4 things are the first to pop in my head when I think of my favorite things I’ve had/used with my babies.
- My go to favorite thing for myself and for new moms is a comfy blanket. A comfy blanket is one of my all time favorite things in general (just take one look at my linen closet and you can see). I feel like they’re so universal and get so much use when you find the perfect one. I have recently fallen in love with this organic muslin everything blanket by Addison Belle. It is the perfect size for babies but also big enough that my toddler can use it too. We literally use this for EVERYTHING. I lay it out when my nephew is over as a play mat, in my 18 month old’s crib for warmth and my almost 3 year old loves it for naptime too. Needless to say we are already about to order another one because it is that loved around here!
- A baby carrier! I am a “wear all the babies” fanatic because I just can’t see how a mother wouldn’t find so much use from one. The amount of times I have cooked a meal or cleaned around the house with baby in tow is almost impossible to count by now. When my second daughter came around just 16 months after my first I knew I needed a carrier that was extra sturdy so I could bend and lift and move and shake with our little Lo in tow. I’ve tried lots of carriers and I love how secure the Stokke MyCarrier makes carrying a little one feel. It’s totally adjustable for comfort and you can use it from newborn until 3 years! The fabric is made of organic cotton so it’s super gentle to the touch. I love that for newborns especially! One huge concern when shopping for the perfect carrier is making sure they are considered a hip-healthy baby carrier and this one is just that. I have used it with my toddler and now my new little nephew and it certainly has my seal of approval. You can check out this 3 in 1 ergonomic baby carrier from Stokke HERE.
- This one may seem crazy but it’s flu season so if I ever had the perfect reason to gush about this next product and not look super crazy it would be now! The product is the NoseFrida by Fridababy. And now their corresponding other products that all work superior (in my opinion) to other brands for the job they have intended. If you’re looking for the perfect new mom gift but want to give her something she will 100% be thankful for someday this would be it! The NoseFrida is essentially a fancy snot sucker. This was invented by a doctor and approved by every mom I know who has used one. Maybe not every dad…but I think that’s because the phrase goes something like “a mother’s love” (ha-ha). That’s because you actually use your mouth as the suction but it is completely safe and sanitary in design for both parents AND baby. This new Bitty Bundle of Joy kit has all of Fridababy’s amazing products together in one reusable pouch with customizable gift tag. You can check that out HERE.
- And last but certainly not least the single product that has gotten me through many naps and has been the center of every living room snuggle fest between my girls: The Dockatot. Is everyone over me gushing about them yet? I am sorry but I couldn’t do a favorite things post and NOT mention it! The love runs deep for these and we have both sizes (the DockATot Deluxe and the DockATot Grand). The DockATot grand has been used so often but most recently I can praise it for helping making the transition to “big girl” bed for my 18 month old a breeze. There was a sense of comfort for her when I laid her down on her new bed but in her familiar surrounding DockATot. The transition has been so smooth because of this. I tried laying her down without it (because my oldest had claimed it that day) and she put up a huge fight before dosing off, something she doesn’t do when she has her comfy DockATot. Aside from that we use this as a general lounger and bring it with us everywhere. We have since used the DockATot Deluxe with my 3-month-old nephew as he is over a lot and we really love it. It’s nice to have a transportable place for your little one to nap that is also safe for them as well. I am a huge fan of DockATot’s designs as well. You can shop all of them HERE.
I hope you enjoyed hearing about a few of my favorite things for babies! I would love to know some of yours below!
