Traveling with children can be stressful, there is no doubt about it but if you’re prepared it is totally manageable and can go quite smoothly! It all comes down to how you approach the situation so if you’re prepared it will make all the difference. We traveled a lot in the last 5 years since becoming parents and I will share what has worked well for us in hopes it helps you on your journeys as well!

I made a post a while back called ‘Tips For Traveling With Little Ones’ where I give some detailed advice on the packing process and some of our favorite products but I thought a quick and easy to read must-have list for products to have while traveling with children would be super helpful too!

5 Must-Have Products For Traveling With Kids

1. Stroller:

I think having as many luxuries you have while at home on your travels is SO important. I can remember our first big trip ever with our first daughter and thinking after we came home that how I will never take an umbrella stroller anywhere again! It just wasn’t as functional as my everyday stroller so I had written them off completely. That was UNTIL we welcomed our second daughter and I got introduced to the UPPAbaby G-LINK Umbrella stroller. This was back in 2015 and I have been singing its’ praises every since. Our first trip with this stroller was a New Year’s Cruise and it was everything I could have dreamed for and more. Since then we have taken this stroller on many trips and I can’t recommend it more! It has superior sun shade coverage, reclines for naps, functional for use with real little babies, lightweight and easy to fold! On this latest trip with just my two oldest daughters I still brought the stroller to have at our destination. Since I didn’t need through the airport, I used this UPPAbaby G-LINK Travel Bag with TravelSafe to check the bag at arrival for ease!

And of course it’s an everyday favorite still with the twins as well! traveling with kids, hacks for traveling with kids, traveling with young children, tips for traveling with young children, tips for traveling with kids, uppababy glink, lightweight umbrella stroller, traveling stroller, best Disney stroller

2. Carry-On Luggage That Is Multifunctional:

As I mentioned above, the girls’ are at an age where they can walk through the airport (and prefer to!) for the most part so checking our stroller was way easier for us. BUT at the same time our 3.5 year old does get tired pretty quickly so when I came across this AMAZING Micro Luggage Easy and fell in love with the idea so I was eager to put it to use and it was EVERYTHING I had hoped it would be and more. Even when my daughter wasn’t riding it I had my bag piled on it and it was always being used. It was so nice to have somewhere to put her when her little legs did get tired and we didn’t have to slow down trying to get to our gate and across the airport. It was beyond convenient to have. The front is felt so I picked up some of these fun Felt Board Figures to pull out for the children when we had a few minutes to wait until we boarded the plane. It really proved to be an essential for us! traveling with kids, hacks for traveling with kids, traveling with young children, tips for traveling with young children, tips for traveling with kids, uppababy glink, lightweight umbrella stroller, traveling stroller, best Disney stroller

3. Travel Carseat/Plane Harness:

If we are traveling with carseats we have always loved the EvenFlo Tribute seats but with the girls maxing out those limits for harnessed forward facing options I have since purchased these Cosco Finale DX 2-in-1 Combination Booster Car Seat for carrying along with us (combined with the Britax Pull Cart still) BUT this last trip we went on we were lucky enough to have my parents traveling by car so they drove our Diono 3RXT carseats so we didn’t have to fuss with them at the airport but I still wanted to have the girls harnessed for our plane ride because they aren’t the safe weight for lap belt only. I found these Child Airplane Travel Harness safety devices and they worked out wonderfully for us!

4. Diaper Bag/Backpacks:

I absolutely love my TwelveLittle Diaper bag and all the storage it offers for travel and daily use. I even got two Kids Backpacks for the girls to use for their belongings and they were just the right size and comfy for the girls to carry through the airport. I love these!

5. Activities:

Here are my favorites for keeping the kids entertained on the airplane:

    • Headphones: We recently got these Untangled PRO Little Gadgets headphones and have really enjoyed them!
    • Boogie Board/Electronic Notepad: This is essentially an electronic sticky pad but it offered SO much fun for the girls! Between “taking orders”, writing stories and drawing pictures these definitely were worth buying for trips alone!
    • Mess Free Marker Coloring Pad: I like getting 2 similar to these (one for each flight) as a way to keep the kids busy until electronics can be used.

And lastly my favorite piece of advice that I learned while traveling is that “being 30k feet in the air is not the time to try to reason with a toddler so just give them that lollipop!” It really makes me laugh and is so true, so pack those lollipops!

Enjoy!

  • Today we frolicked with the fishies at the aquarium for their school field trip and let’s just say these girls couldn’t be happier! What a special way to kick off the long weekend AND Lo’s birthday 🎉🐠 Seeing them so happy is what I live for! #sistersister #birthdaygirl
  • How can I not feel blessed? Everyone I pass when I’m in public with these 4 blesses me as we pass by 🤣 I’ve had multiple people tell me how calm I seem with them (one of those people asked me if I was on drugs...I can’t make this stuff up!) and they have said that next time they feel stressed they’ll just think of me lol...One of those people was a dad so to his wife, you’re welcome, hopefully he comes home in a better mood 😂 I really should just start writing this stuff down because some of the comments we get are too funny! What is the craziest thing you’ve ever been told when out with your kids!? #momof4 #twinmom

  • These goofballs performed “Shallow” by @ladygaga & Bradley Cooper in their school talent show last week and I finally got it up on YouTube 👏🏼 🎤 You can find the link in my bio or in my #YouTube highlights! I love watching these girls be so brave and standing in front of a crowd like it’s no big deal. • So much thanks to @rutheckerdhall for hosting us today at the Daniel Tiger LIVE ‘King For A Day’ show ✨ Everything was perfect and it’s always a favorite venue of ours to attend. The show was adorable and we had 3 little ones with the biggest smiles on their faces the whole show 🐯 Head over to my stories for more of the fun! Do you like Daniel Tiger?! #hosted #danieltigerlive #rutheckerdhall #kingforaday
  • I’ve never had to be more patient than I have these last couple years building this house. Today was a breath of fresh air and reminded me why we chose the builder we did and why it’s taking as long as it has. He met us here on a Saturday to personally help facilitate the design of our front yard (which includes totally changing our driveway 🤦🏻‍♀️). I hear “change” and I immediately shut down but ultimately he wants this house and the finished product to be just as perfect as we do and that I can respect/appreciate! The house will get done and it will be worth it (I’m telling myself this not you 🤣) I shared a question box in my stories about what you’d all want more of on my feed and house updates were one of them! Here are some from today and I will share more as we finish this project up! The kids LOVED watching the lot get prepped for landscape ☀️ Live action of what they’re looking at is in my stories now! #buildingcasabryant #newhome #custombuild
