Under The Stairs Playhouse Tour

After revealing the entire playroom I wanted to do a dedicated post for the under the stairs playhouse. This playhouse is a playroom all in itself and it’s too good to lump together in one large post. SO here is our under the stairs playhouse tour for you!
Playroom Reveal
If you missed my previous playroom reveal you can see it HERE. OR you can see a glimpse of the whole space and the design process behind it on our youtube channel below.
All About the Under The Stairs Playhouse
From wasted space under the stairs (as detailed here) to a full on playhouse, this was very fun to create!
The main playroom space is designed for movement. That area is for them to move about and get their wiggles out. So I knew when it came time to set the inside of the under the stairs playhouse up I wanted to make the focus on pretend play. I also wanted to make the space very similar to a real house. That thought track inspired each of the following elements of the space. Together the whole under the stairs playhouse incorporates every kind of pretend play a kid could dream of! Then once you leave the playhouse you enter our playroom which again is supposed to resemble the “outdoors” with the play-set!
Modern Play Kitchen Idea for Young Kids
The play kitchen is one of the main focuses of this under the stairs playhouse space. I love this Ultimate Corner Play Kitchen by KidKraft because it is big enough for two kids to play. It also stores all the play food easily. The selling point for me was the pretend washing machine. This really had all the fun “pretend” aspects to it in one corner piece which makes for the best use of space.
Kids Table And Chairs Recommendation
We put this Delta Children’s Kid’s Bistro Table and Chairs under the loft to create a “kitchen table” feel which compliments the play kitchen. This table is also where they can do puzzles or even play with their Educational Insights Talking Globe.
Inside Play Fort For Kids Idea
As if the under the stairs playhouse needed to be any cooler, there is an actual loft inside! Right over the play table there is a loft. It is here that we have our Malia Mu knotted raft for extra comfort as well as their knotted pillow. This space is meant to create a cozy feeling space to relax or read in. Similar to a bedroom in a house! See, I really did think of everything (HA!) I have a feeling the boys will claim this fort as their own someday but for now the girls are loving having it to themselves!
Mommy/Daddy And Me Pretend Play
Towards the back of the under the stairs playhouse we have a kind of awkward space as the ceiling gets quite low. I specifically asked them to go as far back as they could with the flooring and while the guys laying the floor may have not liked it, I love having this extra space! I decided to use this space for the baby doll accessories that my kids love! We have a cute little toy baby crib and toy baby changing station (which we store all their baby clothes, bottles etc inside of!) Then we added this adorable Cubino Loveseat by MonteDesign and it is the perfect size for the playhouse!
Dress-Up Storage in Our Under the Stairs Playhouse
Shown in the video above we have this Guidecraft Dress-up Carousel in the corner for the kids to store all their dress-up gear. It spins and is perfect for space saving which we needed for this space!
All together this under the stairs playhouse creates the perfect space for all of our kids’ imaginations to sore! We all love how it turned out and we are so excited to have it for years to come. What is your favorite part?
